August 11, 2025New Jersey Water from the Delaware River
Over half of New Jersey’s population is dependent on drinking water from the Delaware River Basin.
The DRBC ban on fracking must remain in place!
Much of the drinking water used in New Jersey comes from the Delaware River, some directly and some indirectly. DCS has compiled the sources and pathways that show how millions of people living in New Jersey are dependent on the Delaware River for their drinking water. We originally did a study in 2013, What NJ Needs to Know About Gas Drilling Along the Delaware River explaining how, if the Delaware River was contaminated from gas/oil drilling, it would spread through much of New Jersey’s drinking water supply. We have since updated and revised that report and it is available here. This is another reason residents of New Jersey should sign the pledge to protect the DRBC frack ban in the Basin.
