A Climate Crisis Roadmap Seminar Co-Hosted by Josh Fox

Dear friends,

We all know this is a dire moment for the planet. Last year, we shot past 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, exceeding the most dire projections of a few years back. We’re all in shock about what’s happening. I’m inviting you to be part of Embracing Our Emergency, an upcoming seminar that starts April 28, co-hosted by director Josh Fox (Gasland) and author Daniel Pinchbeck (How Soon Is Now). DCS’s long relationship with Josh goes back to his Academy award nominee film, GasLand, that is dedicated to DCS! This could be groundbreaking! I hope you will consider joining me for this engaging and comprehensive look at our situation, especially considering our longstanding fight about our addiction to fossil fuels and fracking.

This five-week course will look honestly at the current state of the Earth and the future of the climate movement: What can the movement do now? How do we rethink our objectives when we see what’s already been unleashed? The seminar will also explore how we can take better care of ourselves and our communities, considering we may see food shortages, extreme droughts, more superstorms, and population displacements in the near future.

Embracing Our Emergency brings together an incredible group of presenters representing different facets of our global movement: Bill McKibben who founded 350.org and Third Act, his new environmental organization for people over sixty; Marianne Williamson, Presidential candidate and spiritual leader; climate activist Jane Fonda; Gail Bradbrook, co-founder of Extinction Rebellion; Thomas Hartmann, nationally syndicated progressive radio host and author of The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight, a great book on fossil fuels and modern civilization; and Jamie Wheal, author of Recapture the Rapture. Presenters also include Jem Bendell (Breaking Together), Alnoor Ladha (Post-Capitalist Philanthropy) and Nate Hagens (The Great Simplification) — all important thinkers and movement-builders. Then there is Doug Good Feather and Xiye Bastida, the brilliant 21 year old Mexican climate justice activist who co-founded Re-Earth Initiative. The full roster is here. You will get to meet these amazing leaders and ask questions of them directly.

Here’s where you can sign up for 20% off (click this link) You’ll get 20% off the purchase price and DCS will receive 20% for each friend of DCS who uses the link to sign up.

The former New York Times environmental columnist Andy Revkin writes about the course here. You can read more there and find out where the proceeds will go. Spoiler alert: It’s for more good work designed to raise awareness and move people toward compassionate, co-creative action!

In this course, you will have an opportunity to focus on your life on an individual, local, and planetary level. While you continue to fight for a livable future for all, how do you also make sure to take care of yourself and your loved ones?

While the full price of this course is $300 ($240 using the link), nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. If you need a partial or full scholarship, please email hello@liminal.news and let them know what works for you.

See you there!
