PA Gov.’s Agreement with Fracker Will Harm People’s Health

Gov. Shapiro Announces Agreement with CNX on Fracking Health Measures, Says New Regulations Coming

As PA Attorney General, Mr. Shapiro was actually face to face with people impacted by fracking. What money compensates for someone losing their health or a loved one?
DCS encourages comments to Gov. Shapiro (link to online form going to Gov. Shapiro). We, who want less drilling and help for those impacted by fracking, helped elect him Governor!

Comment from DCS Director Arrindell to PA Governor Shapiro:

Gov. Shapiro, you of all people KNOW the human and environmental dangers of fracking and still you want to encourage more? With a known, callous polluter like CNX? Is it just the incoming money?

What about the hidden health costs, are you adding them in? As Attorney General, you signed off on the Grand Jury report. You heard those people describe what their situations were like, living near gas/oil drilling and infrastructure. Have you forgotten, now that you are Governor?

What about the destruction of water resources? What about the future of PA that you are supposed to be protecting???

Please re-think this very bad move.

Physician’s for Social Responsibility PA has serious concerns about Gov. Shapiro’s agreement with CNX (read full statement here):

“The only thing that is “radical” about the agreement between CNX and Shapiro is that fracking will be allowed to continue to proliferate in the commonwealth while evidence mounts about how harmful it is to Pennsylvanians’ health, Pennsylvania’s environment, and the planet’s climate system. It is disappointing that Governor Shapiro still believes that fracking for oil and gas can be done safely in Pennsylvania. It never could and it cannot now.”
