The Skinners Falls Bridge is part of the landscape of the Upper Delaware River, where it crosses the river at Milanville, PA. It is listed with the National Register of Historic Places and described as “utterly spectacular” and “extremely ornate, beautiful and significant.” It has been closed since October, 2019 due to deck and truss deterioration.

PennDot is now considering options for the bridge. Local residents and organizations, such as DCS and the Upper Delaware Council, are strongly in favor of restoring the bridge. DCS Director, Barbara Arrindell, described the option of a new bridge as a “2 lane monstrosity for 40 ton trucks.” River Road, the outlet road on the PA side of the bridge, has a 10-ton limit, which makes a new, 40 ton bridge, nonsensical.

HistoricBridges.org calls the Skinners Falls Bridge “one of the most significant bridges” in NY and PA, and says that, with restoration, it can have “a very bright and long future ahead of it.”
