June 11, 2026Call Now to Stop Imminent Fracking Threat in the Delaware River Basin
A Credible Effort to Void the DRBC Ban on Fracking Is Advancing in the U.S. Congress
All Hands on Deck! Take a Moment & Make a Call Today
A vote is imminent and could come as soon as Monday, July 13. That means we have until Sunday, July 12, to act.
PA Representative Scott Perry has proposed an amendment to the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) currently advancing through Congress. The amendment would strip the power of DRBC to enforce the ban on fracking that protects the Delaware River, our drinking water and our communities from the toxic contamination, polluted runoff, and the draining water uses fracking for fossil fuels would cause.
If this amendment passes out of the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure it would bypass the need for a full vote by all the members of the House of Representatives, allowing it to hide among the hundreds of pages of language and money giveaways to congressional districts that always dominate WRDA legislation.
WRDA is supposed to be about advancing projects and studies carried out by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This proposed amendment would hijack WRDA in order to strip legal authority and protections that are totally unrelated.
What does this mean?
If this amendment passes out of the Committee, it will most certainly pass out of the House of Representatives and be on its way to becoming a law as soon as adopted by the Senate.
The Delaware River Basin has been protected from the ravages of fracking experienced by communities across Pennsylvania and our nation since 2010. Through our ban we have not only protected the drinking water supplies for communities in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, but we have protected future generations from the devastating contributions to climate change that fracking in our watershed would cause.
Please commit to calling 3 members of the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure.
The 3 Committee members who represent communities in our watershed or who drink Delaware River water (in NJ and NYC) are:
- Representative Pat Ryan (NY) – (202) 225-5614 or (845) 443-2980
- Representative Jerry Nadler (NY – representing NYC) – 202-225-5635 or 212-367-7350
- Representative Nellie Pou (NJ) – (202) 225-5751 or (973) 523-5152
More information, including what to say and what else you can do. ACT NOW!
