DCS Statement Re: Injunction Halting Demolition of SFB Denied
April 16, 2025DCS is very excited for this weekend’s Deep Water Projects/DCS double-bill this Saturday, May 10, in Narrowsburg, NY. First, at 4pm, at the DVAA, catch the incredible eco-memoir writer Jennifer Kabat (Nightshining) in conversation with the wonderful Margueritte Hollyoway (Take to the Trees) and environmental writer and activist Justin Nobel (Petroleum-238) for a panel that explores humanity’s fraught relationship with the natural world. Their work is extraordinary, and this promises to be a fascinating conversation. After we’ll enjoy a unique pond concert, The Life Aquatic, by the Grammy-winning David Rothenberg. By sinking microphones into ponds to amplify the hidden symphonies of aquatic life he will bring us into an alien soundscape: the crackling, clicking, and chorusing of creatures and processes we rarely are allowed to listen to, let alone take the time to. His work blends live recordings with insights from collaborators like Werner Herzog and Peter Gabriel, revealing ponds as vibrant acoustic communities. that explore humanity’s fraught relationship with the natural world.
The panel is free, but we encourage reservations. The concert, which begins at 5.30 at Little Lake Erie, Narrowsburg, is $20 and includes a wine reception immediately following at the Ruffed Grouse. The forecast for Saturday evening is great!
