Tell Gov. Cuomo No Fracking

If you have a NY State address this is a good letter to sign.

Rumors are swirling that Governor Cuomo may announce he will open New York to fracking in just a matter of weeks. You and I know this may spell disaster for the state, but Gov. Cuomo is basing his decisions on his own political aspirations for the national stage where “drill baby drill” is still the mantra.

Will you tell Gov. Cuomo that his first priority is to protect New York communities from the dangers of fracking ?

For the past five years, your voice has been critical in the fight to keep fracking out of New York, while other states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia have rushed forward with drilling. Beyond dubious economic gains, the legacy of fracking in these states has been contaminated water, fouled skies, and fractured communities. We will not let that happen here.

Will you help flood the governor’s office with letters telling him not to open New York to fracking?

Gov. Cuomo has proposed that he will begin his fracking program in some of the most economically disadvantaged areas of NY even though he knows, based upon peer-reviewed science, that fracking will put these communities at risk. Moreover, the State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will not be conducting any Health Impact Assessments, studies of cumulative impact, or plans to manage the billions of gallons of wastewater generated by the industry.

Will you tell Gov. Cuomo it is clear that fracking is not safe? Help to flood his office with letters demanding that he halt his plan for moving forward.

Thanks for all you do to protect New York’s environment,
